Our Sustainable Products

Big B with a green cotton field in the background

For our cotton yarns, we select the finest fibers from the world’s best growing areas. The most important characteristic of cotton fiber is its consistency in fiber properties.  Buhler exclusively sources its ELS cotton from the US which is branded Supima®.  Because our fiber selection is tailored to spin the finest yarns, we have a very narrow fiber properties criteria. In additional, we use the Engineered Fiber Selection computer system to ensure consistent fiber properties from laydown to laydown over the long term.  This allows dye houses to be even more efficient when process our Supima fabrics.

We purchase our TencelTM Lyocel and TencelTM MicroModal® fibers from the world’s leading manufacturer of cellulose fibers, Lenzing AG in Austria.  The wood pulp for Lenzing’s fibers are sourced from natural forests and sustainably managed.  The fibers Buhler selects from Lenzing’s are environmentally manufactured in Europe achieving high marks for its sustainable practices.

Our Sustainable Practices

At Buhler, we know that the best way to improve our sustainability impact is through fiber and spin system selection which improves the life of a garment. Second, continue to reduce our energy consumption for every pound of yarn produced. This requires monitoring of our energy consumption in all areas of manufacturing and replacing older technology with best-in-class equipment. It is the details that make the greatest impact.

History of the Company

Launched in 1996, our US facility in Jefferson Georgia is the leading supplier of fine-count yarns in the United States. Our commitment is to service, long-standing industry partnerships and quality products.

Buhler started supplying fine count yarns to the sheeting manufacturers in 1996. By year 2,000, Buhler doubled its capacity in ring spinning and diversified its products to enter primarily the knit market.

In April of 2017, Buhler Quality Yarns was acquired by Samil Spinning of Korea. Samil and Buhler share the same passion for quality, service, and innovation. This acquisition allows Samil Spinning to have a footprint in both the eastern and western hemispheres. Jointly, Samil and Buhler can provide an incredible list of yarn products and services.
